Deltassist Family and Community Services - Child and Youth Suicide Prevention Program

Deltassist Family and Community Services is a multi-service, non-profit agency that has been offering services to residents of Delta since 1972. The Child and Youth Suicide Prevention Program has been offering services to the community of Delta for over 30 years, and offers individual and family counselling. The main North Delta office has reception hours Monday to Friday from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm.  Both offices are wheelchair accessible. Appointments are made with the individual counsellors and after-hours appointments are open depending on availability. Services are provided in line with a trauma informed, client-centered empowering perspective. Children and youth are assessed for level of risk, helped to develop a safety plan, and may involve their family in their planning. Clients are also seen on a short-term basis to bridge to other services such as START, EPI, or CYMH if they have multiple mental wellness issues that cannot be addressed by this program. Clients are assisted to develop realistic coping strategies that they can use in all aspects of their lives. If the client is in crisis, do not refer to this program, call 911, as this is a prevention, not a crisis program and it operates 9:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Deltassist is committed to continually reviewing and improving services and considers client input and feedback an integral aspect of providing this service. Counsellors mainly provide services on an outreach basis to the schools in Delta; however, clients can also be seen in the community, or at either the North Delta main office or the satellite office in Tsawwassen depending on what best meets their needs.

Referrals are accepted from families, schools, doctors, MCFD or other health professionals. There is no wait or cost for services.

Deltassist also provides consultation and information to schools, doctors and other health professionals to assist in determining resources that would best meet client needs.
